Alexandre Magno is a highly regarded international artistic director and choreographer for the stage and screen, known around the world for his unique style and vision that has been recognized as  “passionate, powerful, theatrical, and inspired,” by critics and innovators alike. Mr. Magno’s choreographic and directorial work is a dynamic fusion of styles, disciplines, and cultures that have combined to give him an inimitable voice in both the artistic and commercial worlds. His work has been sought after by recording artists, celebrities and international dance companies, for stage, film, television, videos, and tours.  His diverse resume includes works for Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Yanni, Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls, the Parisian Lido, Ballet Hispanico, Ringling Bothers, and the Academy Awards, as well as having his own highly acclaimed dance company entitled, With Passion.


In 1993, Alex was hand picked by Madonna to choreograph her world tour and HBO special The Girlie Show. She recognized not only his choreographic talent, but also his unique ability to mix sensuality and strength in a dynamic way that was still commercially viable. In 2001, Madonna called on Alex’s talent again for her Drowned World Tour, this time with even greater demands including the following elements to the tour: Tango, Salsa, Flamenco, Karate, Kung Fu, Samurai sword work, a Contortionist, and a traditional Javanese dancer. Alex was recognized with both an Emmy Award and American Choreography Award Nomination.


In 2003, Britney Spears asked Alex to choreograph for her ABC special and MTV club tour, in which his work was called, “sensual, seductive, and mature” by US Weekly. Magno has also had the pleasure of working with famed Flamenco Guitarist, Ron Benise choreographing and staging Nights Of Fire, his PBS special that incorporates Flamenco, Afro-Cuban salsa and samba which was immediately followed by the creation of Benise’s 2006 National Tour.


Best described as a fusion, his work stands apart from because of his unmatched diversity and strong artistic vision. Having grown up in Brazil, his work is infused with Latin rhythm, movement, and inspiration, which combined with his mastery of contemporary and commercial dance, create works that are always distinct and impactful. Making him one of only a few that crosses between the company and commercial worlds with ease.


Mr. Magno is a storyteller at heart and an artist who is always pushing the boundaries in unconventional ways to express himself. Incorporating music production and filmmaking has expanded his ability to tell a story by communicating on a multitude of levels. As an artist who thinks in visual metaphors, he has received critical acclaim for his multi-media work, and continues to explore new and innovative ways of pushing the limits.
