Mic began dancing at age 10 and by the time he was 15, he was named the U.S. Ballroom Latin Champion. Soon after, Mic's career took off when he began dancing with his favorite recording artists including Michael Jackson for 8 years, Diana Ross, Paula Abdul, Wynona Judd, Vanessa Williams, Tracey Ullman, and Jennifer Lopez. He was a regular on the Dick Clark's TV series Your Big Break, Comedy Central's The Man Show, and Jay Leno's The Tonight Show. Mic was also featured on the films Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Majestic, The Wedding Planner, Dance With Me, and as the lead ballroom dancer in the Disney film Enchanted.
As a choreographer, Mic has worked in many different cities nationally and internationally. His work can be seen in Paris, France where he choreographed the current Spectacular Bonheur at the Lido de Paris on the infamous Champs Elysees. Mic also choreographed the touring show of Best of Broadway in Greece and Turkey. In China, he created the FANTASY-4 D Musical Spectacular at World Joyland, Best of the Night in Beijing and Future Times Extravaganza in Shenzhen. In Mexico he choreographed the Vegas Night Spectacular and the World Merlin Award winning production of the Magic Of Eriko Trevensoli which is currently running in Can Cun and soon Dubai. His work can also be seen in Japan where he choreographed Mickey's Adventureland Mardi Gras for Disneyland Tokyo.
Mic Thompson is currently the choreographer for the new theatrical musical titled “BEAUTIFUL” opening in at the famous Avalon Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Around the corner at the El Capitan Theater is where Mic’s stage show Disney’s Planes: Fire and rescue “Surf’s Up!! live stage show. Mic is the choreographer that brings the best dancers in LA to burn the floor at El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, in full production live stage shows such as Wreck It Ralph, Monsters Inc. 3-D, Tangled, Up, Ratatouille, Santa Claus 2, and Emperor’s New Groove. In Orlando he was choreographer on the Disney TV series Mickey Mouse Club and the famous dancing spectaculars at Disney World’s Pleasure Island.
Mic’s version for choreography for Disney Theatrical Group musical TARZAN at Tuacahn Utah was a huge success that it stayed on the books for the new Broadway musical. Last fall, Mic choreographed a Minnie Mouse and Tinker Bell special event for the world debut of the Disney/Barney's NY Electric Holiday Light Show in New York City Times Square.
Mic danced his way through Disney films Enchanted, and the Haunted Mansion, reprising his ballroom footwork at the Academy Awards. He also played a role in and danced next to Michael Jackson in the famous several international TV performances of Dangerous and as Uncle Creepsly in GHOSTS, Will and Grace Cowboys and Iranians episode as the “Dancing Cowboy” and recently dancing in the two commercial for the Barnes and Noble NOOK with GLEE Jane Lynch.
Within the United States, Mic has worked in Las Vegas choreographing for Legends on Ice at Caesars Palace, Bite at the Stratosphere Hotel, the Soprano’s Last Supper at the Planet Hollywood Hotel featuring the Original Bada-Bang Girls, and The Magic of Rick Thomas at the David Saxe Theater.
In Los Angeles Mic’s extensive choreography experience includes national Broadway musicals Legally Blonde, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Grease, Sweet Charity, High School Musical 2, Pippin, West Side Story, Cabaret and Disney Theatrical Group’s TARZAN. He choreographed commercials for Vodaphone, Clairol, and Kraft, along with music videos for recording artists such Brooke Allison, the Offspring, and Billy Ray Cyrus with his dance troupe in The Colgate Country Showdown on PAX TV. Mic has recently worked with recording artist Yones, choreographing for his 2014 LA Pride performance as well as his new music video OK, OK, OK.
He has also choreographed on Dolly Parton’s Hello, I'm Dolly the National Tour and for Carnival Cruise’s on-board shows such as Far From Over The 80's and Rock Down Broadway as well as high-energy choreography from Broadway shows Footloose and Saturday Night Fever and the X-treme Country show, Game Show and Ballroom Burn show. In addition, Mic has also choreographed Mictendo and MicGalaxy for the BYU World Champion Ballroom Dance Team.
The highlights of his career include being selected as Choreographer Of The Month for the special Millennium Issue of Dance Spirit Magazine and winning a nomination for Swinging On A Star for Best Choreography from the NAACP. Throughout his career, Mic has constantly proved himself to be a strong force in the industry. He is an incredible artist and choreographer who is worthy of all the recognition he receives.
